Browsing data

The IT systems and software procedures that run this website acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This information is not collected in order to be associated with identified data subjects, but by its very nature it could, through processing and association with data held by third parties, allow users to be identified.

This category includes the IP addresses or domain names of the computers used by users connecting to the site, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the server’s response (success, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the user’s operating system and computer environment.

These data are used only to obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the site and to check that it works correctly.

Cookies

Cookies are a kind of “reminder”: short lines of text containing information that can be saved on the user’s device when the browser (for example Chrome or Safari) opens a website. Thanks to cookies, the server sends information that is read and updated each time the user returns to that site, so that the website can adapt automatically to the user and improve the browsing experience.

What cookies are used for

Cookies serve different purposes, have different characteristics, and can be used both by the owner of the site you are visiting and by third parties. Cookies are mainly used to:

  • improve the user’s browsing experience on the site, for example by storing specific settings of users accessing the servers;
  • give the site operator information on how users browse, to obtain statistics on the use of the site and improve navigation;
  • deliver advertising messages.

Technical cookies

These cookies are necessary to allow:

  • browsing and use of the website (for example, to log in to restricted areas: “browsing or session cookies”);
  • browsing according to a set of selected criteria, in order to improve the service provided to the user (“functional cookies”).

They are essential to use all the features of the site. The user’s consent is not required for them, only information.

The technical cookies set by this website are:

NamePurposeDuration
adopt_cartKeeps the contents of your shopping cart.30 days
adopt_customerKeeps you logged in to your customer account.Browser session
adopt_refRecords the partner (affiliate) link through which you reached the site, so that the partner can be credited for your order.30 days
adopt_consentRemembers the choices you made in the cookie banner.180 days

Analytics and marketing cookies

Analytics cookies are used to create anonymous profiles of users and to analyse how visitors move around the site.

Cookies other than the technical cookies above are installed or activated only after the user has given consent through the cookie banner shown on the first visit, by choosing which categories to accept. The choice is remembered on subsequent visits, and the user can withdraw all or part of the consent at any time from the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

Third-party cookies used by the site

Google Tag Manager — a tool for managing the tags of a website, such as the Google Analytics scripts (for statistics), Google Ads remarketing code and others: a single script is added to the pages, and tags are added, changed or removed through Google’s web interface. It is loaded only after consent. To learn how Google uses cookies: policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

Google Analytics — these third-party cookies are used by Google Analytics to collect information on how you use our site. We analyse this (anonymous) information to improve the services we offer our users. They are set only after consent to analytics cookies. Overview: Google Analytics cookie usage. To disable Google Analytics on all websites you can install the browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Google Maps — these third-party cookies are used by Google Maps to store user preferences while viewing maps and to track visitor behaviour. On this site the map is loaded only when you click “Show the map”. Overview: policies.google.com/privacy.

OpenStreetMap (adoption map) — the adoption map is loaded only at your request (“Show the map”). This website does not set any cookie to show the map; the map images are requested from tile.openstreetmap.org (see the Privacy Policy, “Adoption map”).

YouTube — the videos on the site are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Overview: policies.google.com/privacy.

Meta (Facebook) — if active, the Meta Pixel measures the effectiveness of advertising on Facebook and Instagram. It is loaded only after consent to marketing cookies. More information: facebook.com/help/cookies.

The following services are added to the pages through Google Tag Manager, so they are loaded only after you accept analytics or marketing cookies in the banner:

  • Microsoft Clarity — shows how visitors use the pages (for example clicks and scrolling) through heatmaps and session recordings, which we use to improve the site. According to Microsoft, Clarity sets first-party cookies such as _clck and _clsk and third-party cookies such as CLID and MUID. Full list: learn.microsoft.com/clarity. Privacy: microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics — statistics on visits to the site. Ahrefs describes it as cookie-free. Privacy: ahrefs.com/privacy-policy.
  • Zendesk Chat — lets you chat live with our staff to ask questions or solve problems. The chat widget, if used, may set cookies such as zclmid, which identifies the device during a chat session and across visits, and _zprivacy, which stores the choice to disable the chat. More information: zendesk.com cookie notice.
  • Cookie Consent (Osano) — a cookie notice script loaded from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. It stores the choice made on its notice in the cookieconsent_status cookie (365 days by default). More information: osano.com/cookieconsent.

Google reCAPTCHA — protects the contact, newsletter, registration and password reset forms from spam. It is loaded only when you start filling in one of these forms, and Google may set its own cookies for this purpose. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

These third-party cookies are installed by parties other than the joint controllers, and their installation requires your consent, recorded when you accept them in the banner. Without consent they are not installed.

Services that do not depend on the banner

Cloudflare Web Analytics — this website is delivered through Cloudflare, which adds its Web Analytics script to the pages to measure visits. It does not depend on the choices made in the banner: according to Cloudflare, Web Analytics “does not use any client-side state, such as cookies or localStorage, to collect usage metrics”. More information: cloudflare.com/web-analytics and cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Managing cookies from your browser

This website works best with cookies enabled. You can still prevent cookies from being set on your device through your browser settings. If you disable cookies completely, some features of the site may not work or the site may not work properly; the cart and the customer account, for example, need technical cookies. Even with all cookies disabled, your browser will continue to store a small amount of information necessary for the basic functionality of the site.
